About the Role
We are looking for a volunteer Graphic Designer to help shape SparkCivic’s visual identity and create engaging digital assets. This is a great opportunity for a creative, civic-minded individual who wants to use their design skills to make a real impact in civic education. The Graphic Designer will have the flexibility and ownership to develop branding elements, marketing materials, and web graphics that enhance our mission.
Responsibilities
✅ Design graphics for SparkCivic’s website, social media, and marketing campaigns.
✅ Develop visual elements that align with and enhance our branding.
✅ Create infographics, illustrations, and layouts for educational content.
✅ Collaborate with the team to brainstorm creative design concepts.
✅ Ensure consistency in design across various platforms and materials.
✅ Have freedom and flexibility to take ownership of creative projects.
Who You Are
🎨 A creative thinker with a strong eye for design and aesthetics.
🎨 Passionate about civic engagement, democracy, and education.
🎨 Proficient in design tools such as Figma
🎨 Experienced in designing for digital platforms (web, social media, marketing).
🎨 A self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in a remote, collaborative environment.
🎨 (Bonus) Experience with animation, video editing, or UX/UI design.

About the Role
We’re looking for a curious and mission-driven Grant Researcher to help identify funding opportunities that align with SparkCivic’s vision. As a volunteer Grant Researcher, you’ll play a key role in building the foundation for our fundraising strategy by discovering grants, fellowships, and funding programs that support civic engagement, education, and nonprofit innovation.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys research and wants to contribute to a growing civic education initiative.
Responsibilities
✅ Research and identify grant opportunities that match SparkCivic’s mission and programs
✅ Maintain a database of potential funders, application timelines, and key requirements
✅ Summarize and present findings to the SparkCivic team with clarity and detail
✅ Stay up to date on trends in philanthropic giving and nonprofit funding
✅ Collaborate with the team to prioritize high-impact opportunities
✅ Support the early stages of the grant application process through research and prep
Who You Are
🔍 A strong researcher who enjoys digging deep and finding opportunities
🔍 Passionate about civic education, democracy, and supporting social impact
🔍 Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple sources of information
🔍 Comfortable working independently in a remote, flexible setting
🔍 (Bonus) Familiar with nonprofit funding or grant databases (e.g. Instrumentl, Candid, Foundation Directory)
